GERM on ZOOM (Sept 30, 2020)

The GOLDEN ERA of RECORDING was 1948 to 1988, the ANALOG ERA when so many fabulous LPs were made World Wide, documenting cultures that have now disappeared. Our Golden Era Recorded Music project plays these LPs live direct to ZOOM!

Tonight we will hear a follow-up to last weeks “Dover Beach” by THE FUGS: a version by SAMUEL BARBER, performed by DIETRICH FISCHER DIESKAU, the great German baritone. The rarely heard “Night Flight” by Barber will follow.

A bouquet of light opera tunefulness will feature songs from “The Land of Smiles” by Franz Lehar and ballet music extracted from “Mamzell Angot” by Lecocq.

The GREAT AMERICAN SYMPHONY series will continue with RANDALL THOMPSON and his lyrical Symphony #2.

AND we will finish with the last part of MAHLER'S Symphony 3, first movement (PAN AWAKES), a triumphant march by the life of the forest!

We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.

See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
