GOLDEN ERA RECORDED MUSIC project (Oct 9, 2019): Opera in an Hour!

Tonight our GERM program will take a new path through the amazing forest of vinyl LP records: OPERA IN AN HOUR. This is the first time that we will present the story of a noted opera with musical highlights and historical commentary. The LP format, because of its 12" x 12" box size often included sumptuous visual illustrations of the opera stage sets and costumes and the London recording of ROSENKAVALIER that we will be hearing tonight is one of the best. Color reproductions of the original Alfred Roller costumes and set designs will give you the visual flavor of the theater experience, and the superb performance by George Solti, Regine Crespin, Helen Donath etc will be a feast for your ears. You MUST hear the final trio of 3 girl singers!

Our upgrade of the best FIBHORN speakers (Model 3a) is proving successful! Hear the singers and orchestra as if they were live on stage!

The listening is from 7 to 8 pm, FIBHORN GALLERY, 21 Thomson Ave, GF. Refreshments served, free and open to the public.
