GERM on ZOOM (June 10, 2020)

The Golden Era Recorded Music project is an ongoing exploration of ALL recorded music on planet EARTH from 1948 to 1988, a time when music, culture and technology came together for an incredible REIGN of BEAUTY. . . a true GOLDEN ERA!

The sound of hard objects striking taut strings is estimated to have begun about 5,000 years ago, fascinating human ears every time it happens. We will hear our modern piano and early versions made a few years after its invention in 1700, around the time of Mozart, lovingly restored.

Earl “Fatha” Hines was so good last week, I have to do an encore! Hear his piano and stellar crew of consorts!

The ONDES MARTINOT leads CHARLES KOECHLIN and a full orchestra into tender love letters for GRETA GARBO and MARLENE DIETRICH. We will finish with a FOLK SONG FINALE from what many consider the GREATEST RECORD COMPANY in history!

We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.

See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
