GERM on ZOOM (Oct 28, 2020)

The GOLDEN ERA of RECORDED MUSIC was 1948 to 1988 when a vast library of great music was issued world-wide on LP records. Join us as we explore the music of the world!

Tonight we will hear exceptional and off-beat music from several cultures, starting with JAPAN and the sound of the HOTCHIKU bamboo flute, then an amazing piece for viola da gamba by LE SIEURE de SAINTE-COLOMBE. An AFRICAN/CARIBBEAN rock band called OSIBISA (ca 1971) will play in their “criss-cross” rhythm style and the South American instruments (Pre and Post Cortez) of LOS CALCHAKIS will explode out of your computer! The rarely-heard Mexican composer REVUELTAS and his SENSEMAYA will give Stravinsky a lesson or two. ARTHUR HONNEGER and his one-movement CONCERTINO FOR PIANO will complete our ride through the cultures of this amazing planet.

We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.

See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
