Another great trumpet from the DUKE ELLINGTON ORCHESTRA, COOTIE WILLIAMS, starts us off with IRVING BERLIN...




Let's start in TRINIDAD with the steel drums of the BIG SHELL BAND from1958 and COOK RECORDS. And why not some GAMELON from JAVA (INDONESIA)?


Speaking of percussion, TITO PUENTE solo will raise the roof with his energy (Cuba)...


AND THEN we go to the BOSTON POPS in 1963 on the CHARLES RIVER ESPLANADE. I can smell the vendor clam rolls and chowdah now!


Next it's RAVI SHANKAR (INDIA), YEHUDI MENUHIN (USA) with WEST MEETS EAST (Alla Rakha, tabla) To end the trip, the PENGUIN CAFE ORCHESTRA (England).
