GERM on ZOOM: April 7, 2021

At the Golden Era Recorded Music Project, we travel the endless VINYL paths from 1948 to 1988. ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW!

Tonight we start with another female JAZZ PIANIST, MARRY LOU WILLIAMS (with Nina Simone, at the top of any list of Jazz greats)

Really early BEETHOVEN (1790-1799) was often not discovered until after his death. We have one of these pieces tonight, a DUET FOR CLARINET & BASSOON.

Part of this fascinating early early Beethoven was the PIANO SONATA No. 3. We will hear the octogenarian WILHELM BACKHAUS in a beautiful DECCA/LONDON recording from 1968.

The GERM project will be starting a RING OF THE NIBELUNGEN series with blazing excerpts and highlights from this great music drama by WAGNER. Tonight we will hear the FOREST MURMURS from SIEGFRIED, just before the SLAYING OF THE DRAGON.

To send us home, we are visited by EARL “FATHA” HINES and his playing of DUKE ELLINGTON classics.

We send out a link for the Zoom meeting every Wednesday by email! Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list.

See you all at 7 pm TONIGHT!
