GERM on Zoom: March 23, 2022

Each Wednesdsy night at 7 PM on Zoom we RELAX, BREATH DEEPLY and LISTEN to MUSIC in DISTANT TIMES & SPACES on ANALOG LP records.

(This program will be a partial repeat of last week’s GERM project that was distorted due to my incompetent ZOOM settings.)

DUKE ELLINGTON lost not only a professional colleague, a much-loved younger friend, but also one-half of his MUSICAL SOUL when BILLY STRAYHORN died in 1967. We will play a few selections from the LP “.  .  .  . AND HIS MOTHER CALLED HIM BILL”

We go back 10 more years to 1958 and the

NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL with the great Soul/Gospel singer MAHALIA JACKSON

What music could possibly follow? Last week it was MOZART, this week it is early BEETHOVEN from 1794 when he was the new BOY GENIUS in town (Vienna), fresh from BONN.

AND back to the DUKE with his spontaneous piano elegy.

The Zoom link goes out weekly by email. Not on our mailing list yet? Drop us a line here.
